Donations Keep on Coming for Chopper

Child Flight is up in the air thanks to many Central Coast businesses and individuals who fought to keep it where it belongs. North Gosford caravan salesman Alan Graham is one of those many people who received special thanks last week from Child Flight's Central Coast regional co-ordinator Nicole Smith and her daughter Amy, whose life was saved by the service.

State Cabinet decided to support in principle the continued operation of the State's only dedicated helicopter for sick children. Without this Child Flight would have been grounded on December 31.

As the battle to save Child Flight raged, Mr Graham pledged to donate $100 from every caravan or car sold from November 20. On Wednesday last week, Mr Graham handed over $1800 to Ms Smith and he is keeping the fundraising going by extending the deadline to December 25.

"We hope to raise about $3000 to $3500 by that time," Mr Graham said. "I'm very happy with the response from the community. It's been a great campaign and one so many people were aware of."

Ms Smith was full of praise and thanks for the many Central Coast people who helped save Child Flight.

Industry recognises excellence

If you are in the market for a campervan or a caravan there is no better place to look than Alan Grahams' Caravans and RVs on the Pacific Highway at North Gosford. The long established business has gone from strength to strength since owner Alan Graham opened the doors in 1977.

With 20 plus years experience in selling and servicing all makes of caravans, the company has an enviable reputation for offering quality products and reliable service. Now it has another feather in its cap - following the recent highly successful Sydney Caravan and Camping Show, members of the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW have voted Alan Graham the "Dealer of the Year". The award is given for sales volume, after sales service and follow up, marketing, quality control, customer service facilities and overall presentation to the customer.

"This is a very prestigious and highly regarded award," Mr Graham said. "And to win it after the spate of fires we recently went through, has been a tremendous boost for the staff. Since the fires, we have upgraded our security and rearranged the layout of the yard. Sales continue to grow and in the past six weeks, we have added an extra person to the sales staff and expanded the office."

One of the main reasons it has remained at the top of its industry over the years is the support and back-up it provides to customers after a sale is made.

It is a key element of success Mr Graham said. "Our on-site service department has been managed for the past 21 years by Steve Fuller and his merry band of mechanics. There is very little they don't know about caravans and the confidence they instill in our customers is just one of the reasons why we have so many people return to us when they are looking to upgrade their vans."

The business is also a real family operation with son Andy Graham also at the helm with his father. Both men are involved in the business on a day-to-day basis and take a personal interest in all caravan sales, whether new or used.

"We see the sale of a caravan as the start of a long term relationship, not just the end of a sales campaign", Mr Graham said. "As committed caravan users, Andy and I can offer some pretty sound advice when it comes to setting up your rig and getting the most out of your van. It's not just sales talk, we speak from experience".

The company is now one of the largest and busiest caravan centres in the state and also attracts customers from all over Australia.

Its policy of always treating customers the way they like to be treated themselves is a proven winner and will be rigorously applied by the father and son team, now and in the future. The centre is open all year round and there is an independent finance broker on site to assist with all financial matters. Enquiries 02 4328 4800.

Dear Alan

Just a note to say thank you for your kind donation in support of my Golf Day. I have been overwhelmed by the way my friends both in and outside the motor trade have rallied to have me feel a new zest for living.

Following adversity, I am now viewing life differently by turning any setbacks around, and taking advantage of my position. I have to give back to others the support I have received from many people who have become close friends over the years. I cannot express enough thanks for the way FAI and staff have given me so much personal help and encouragement.

Be assure we will keep in touch and thank you again for both our business association and personal friendship.

Yours faithfully Peter Preston, FAI Insurance
